The Jaguar E-type, or Jaguar XK-E in the United States, is a far more powerful product compared to the already very impressive XK-150, which was the E-type’s predecessor. It was lighter and shorter, and obviously much faster, with an independent-rear suspension that made it an even more commendable creation. Ideally, the Jaguar E-type serves as the successor to both the D-Type and the Jaguar XK 150. Among its line, it also has the longest lifespan, with over a decade in-production.  

However, unlike the C-Type, this one isn’t merely an update of its XK predecessor. The E-Type was really intended to be lighter than both the D-Type and the XK 150 (there was even a lightweight E-Type, which h is obviously lighter than the original E-Type). 

What made the E-Type marked in the world of sports cars? Its sexy design—something that the world has never-seen before. It was a marked change from the XK series which, although it several updates, had-similar looks (a reason why many people lump XK 120 to XK 150 together, as if they are all the same-car). 

The 1964 Jaguar E-type, and all the other E-Type reiterations, are considered as legendary sports cars. This is something the successor of the E-Type, the Jaguar XJS, was not able to recreate. And in fact, this was intentional, since the XJS was-very much far from the XK and the E-type in terms of looks, perhaps a sign that even the powers that be in Jaguar know that it would be-quite hard to surpass the beauty that is the Jaguar E-Type.
