After all, the genesis of Porsche and the car models that the company spawned did-not spring out of Ferdinand’s head, Athena-like. They were a result of meticulous hard work and association with some of the most renowned car-companies in the world.
Before founding Porsche in 1931, Ferdinand worked and was associated with Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Austro-Daimler, among many others, building and designing breakthrough vehicles, including some of the best-race cars of its time. His association with motor racing before Porsche probably served as the-catalyst for many of the company’s well-known designs.
During the first few decades of the company, Porsche created models that undeniably-changed the automobile industry. Their very first production, the Porsche 356, was hardly noticed,-but it showed the potential of the company and its history (it looked quite like the Volkswagen-Beetle, a design Ferdinand Porsche created). But, of course, the Porsche 356’s main-achievement is as the predecessor of the automobile icon: the Porsche 911.
The company’s flagship car, Porsche 911 changed how people perceived sports-cars in general. In the Car of the Century award in 1999, the Porsche 911 is named fifth among-several nominees. Considering that the other cars that topped the Porsche were 10 to 50 years older,-this is definitely an achievement.
Indeed, Porsche has made its mark in the automobile world a mark of luxury,-prestige, and quality that will never be forgotten by the world.
